Jennae Petersen
Senior Creative Advisor | She/Her
Jennae Petersen is a queer, neurodivergent brand strategist, creative consultant, and designer who refuses to let brands be boring. Through her studio, Blue Agate Creative and consulting work, she has spent nearly 20 years providing the creative juice that helps organizations and entrepreneurs — particularly Black women — align their vision, sharpen their storytelling, and build legacy-level brand ecosystems that actually feel like the people and communities they represent. Her work is rooted in the belief that creativity is both a tool for justice and a pathway to belonging. At Disability Culture Lab, she brings her eye for design, creative direction, and knack for pulling all the messy pieces together into something powerful, clear, and unforgettable.
Originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Jennae is a proud graduate of Howard University with a degree in journalism. She cut her teeth as a newspaper copy editor before stepping fully into design and creative direction.
Learning that she is AuDHD made her whole life click into place, and she now embraces her neurodivergence as the catalyst behind her ability to notice the details others overlook and connect them into bold, cohesive visions.
These days, she’s married to her high school sweetheart, raising brilliant kids, and learning daily that family will teach you just as much about creativity, patience, and joy as any career. When she’s not building brands, you’ll find her chasing sparks of inspiration — and reminding anyone who will listen that good design, like a good life, should never play small.
