Jen D. Rafanan
Senior Creative Advisor | She/Her
Jen D. Rafanan loves when she can merge her creative talents with her passion for advocacy and use them to help amplify the voices of those who struggle to be heard. An established artist, designer, photographer, and principal of her progressive creative boutique, JDR-Creative, Jen is equally known for her activism and leadership in state and national politics.
Jen has worked on countless campaigns and with nonprofit organizations at local, state, and national levels. Whether as staff, vendor, or volunteer, she has dedicated herself to strengthening their branding, communications, and campaign merch and literature design, while also providing organizing, phone and text banking, strategic consulting, and training support.
Jen also takes part in issue-based actions and organizing, and has done everything from calling for Jeff Sessions’ resignation at a Department of Justice press conference, to writing op-eds about reproductive justice and accessible healthcare, to serving on the board of reproductive justice-centered nonprofit Feminist Women’s Health Center (now Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation) and the advisory council for PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill animal shelter.
She’s held several roles in her pursuit for justice, including: State Committee member and AAPI Caucus Chair for the Democratic Party of Georgia; Communications Chair for the Fulton County Democrats; Communications and Activism Chair of Young Democrats of Atlanta; Founder and Chair of Young Democrats of Hall County; and roles as Secretary and Executive Vice President of Young Democrats of Georgia.
As an invisibly disabled culture worker, her latest challenge is collaborating with nonprofit Disability Culture Lab to shift the narrative on disability from one of fear and pity to one of solidarity and liberation. Passionate about life, creative engagement, and helping others, Jen also enjoys time with family and friends, journaling, music, cooking, traveling, and all things Star Wars. After losing her awesome pitbull rescue Agapi to cancer, she is now mom to another amazing rescue pitbull named Pinky.
