Gwendolyn was also a copy editor and writer for UCLA's queer and feminist newsmagazines, OutWrite and FEM, where she deepened her commitment to uplifting underrepresented and historically marginalized people’s stories. She has received numerous awards and recognitions as a result of her advocacy, including the Rae Lee Siporin LGBTQ Leadership Award.

Gwendolyn is also a workshop facilitator and presenter on disability justice, public health, and community care for numerous organizations and universities.
