Cielo Sunsarae is a Trans and nonbinary organizer based in Jacksonville, Florida. They are the Founder and Executive Director of The Queer Trans Project, a nationally recognized nonprofit they launched at just 22 years old. Under their leadership, the organization has distributed over $1,500,000 dollars in free gender-affirming items and resources, supporting over 12,000 Trans and nonbinary people nationwide.
Cielo contributed their expertise as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) practitioner for NASA, and a Patient & Family Advisory Council member for Mayo Clinic’s Transgender and Intersex Specialty Care Clinic. Their work has been featured by ABC News and Rolling Stone and centers on joy, and access. In April 2023, they were honored with the Louis Mitchell Foundation Award for Empowerment from the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition (BTAC), recognizing their leadership and commitment to uplifting the Black Trans community.
Personally, Cielo advocates and educates on inclusive gender affirming pleasure for multi-marginalized queer and transgender individuals with their social media presence.
